Originally an olive oil mill, Molino del Carmen has been transformed into 7 chic self-catering properties retaining many original features with some of the equipment also still in evidence. Each is tastefully and comfortably finished in the traditional Moorish style and offers privacy for members of a group, with private entrances and outside spaces. The peaceful setting offers sunny terraces, shady patios and beautiful architectural features, with views, over the Mediterranean and the mountains of North Africa in the distance, which are second to none.
Open plan living areas and vaulted ceilings lend an air of luxury and space, and sumptuous bedrooms afford spectacular views with Juliette balconies in many. Soft furnishings complement the traditional features, with kilim rugs and Moroccan lights in many of the rooms.
Outside there are wisteria and bougainvillea bedecked terraces and patios providing fabulous spaces for al fresco dining or relaxing and soaking up the sun. The terrace around the swimming pool, which is heated during the summer months, has sunloungers and a rainforest shower.
Gaucin is an authentic Spanish town exhibiting many Moorish influences in its architecture and style. There are cafes and restaurants for whiling away the day and watching the village going about its business. There's plenty of interest in the immediate area, as well as beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol within 30 minutes, a vast national park full of wildlife, historic towns and trails for guided walking or riding trips.
Getting here is easy too. Malaga is only 1.5 hours away, and Gibraltar even closer.
