The 5 Best Hen Party Destinations In The UK

One of the most important parts of planning your hen weekend is deciding on the perfect destination. In order to make the weekend a success you need to find somewhere that will suit the majority of your group, both in terms of budget and things to do. Naturally, it also needs to be a place that the hen herself can get excited about. Somewhere that will become a special memory for her when she looks back at this part of her life.

Here are the best hen party destinations in the UK

1. Brighton

Brighton is a hugely popular UK hen party destination and with good reason. If your weekend is blessed with golden sunshine, there’s a variety of seaside entertainments to choose from and if the weather gods refuse to play ball, the world-famous Laines shopping area is wonderful for a leisurely browse and a tasty cake or two… If you’re feeling energetic, why not try stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking between the two iconic piers to help work those pastries off. Or check out the glorious views from the British Airways i360 observation tower.

If you’re looking for spacious, modern and well-equipped accommodation in Brighton, this centrally-located townhouse with room for up to 32 guests is a great option.

2. London

London is a brilliant choice for hen weekends in 2020. There’s so much to do, no matter what time of year you go – and it’s not weather-dependent. London can be a little on the pricey side, but don’t let that put you off. There’s plenty of free or budget-friendly things to do, and if the weather’s good, simply walking the capital’s historic streets or riversides is a great use of an afternoon.

Depending on your group’s interests, you could consider a boat ride on the Thames, a visit to one or two of London’s museums and galleries or a trip to Spitalfields or Camden market for some retail therapy. The choice and quality of nightlife is overwhelming. From world-famous nightclubs to an incredible choice of theatre, restaurants, bars and music, you’re sure to find something to excite and entertain your group.

A runner up in Channel 5’s ‘I Own Britain’s Best Home’, this large townhouse in Tooting Bec sleeps 7-16 and offers good access to all London has to offer.

3. Edinburgh

Edinburgh offers a wide variety of activities and nightlife for hen weekends, and it’s super-easy to get around by foot or public transport. A trip to Edinburgh castle is a must, and if you’re feeling energetic, why not hike to the top of Arthur’s seat, just a short walk from the city centre. Once you’ve exhausted the fantastic retail opportunities the city has to offer, an afternoon spent welly hurling, haggis rolling or bagpipe playing with GoHen should put you all in the mood for a fun evening out on the tiles.

Within 20 minutes of central Edinburgh, this spectacular country house sleeps 10-34 and the dining room can seat the whole group for those leisurely brunches. Plus there’s a games room and hot tub for when the girls want some downtime too.

4. Cotswolds

If you’re looking for a rural hen party destination but still want access to good restaurants and a cosy pub or two, the Cotswolds is a great option. Spend your days walking amongst picture-postcard landscapes, take part in a cookery course or relax in one of the area’s luxurious spas. If you’re feeling adventurous, Cotswold Water Park offers a range of activities to suit all abilities.

For any Downtown Abbey fans in your group, these delightful barn conversions close to Bampton (where the series is set) is a splendid choice. With space for 10+ in each and with cosy wood burners, you’ll have everything you need to complete your perfect countryside retreat.

5. Pembrokeshire

For those who fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Pembrokeshire is a fabulous idea. Aside from jaw-dropping natural beauty, you’ll be treated to picturesque villages, delightful seafood restaurants and more cosy pubs than you can shake a fire iron at. With a coastline this glorious, you’ll doubtless want to explore. If you’re feeling sporty, choose from kayaking, coasteering, surfing, mountain biking – or a wide range of other great activities. In the mood for some history? Check out the stunning medieval castle in Pembroke or the cathedral in St Davids, the UK’s smallest city.

After a day’s excursions, what could be better than climbing into a soothing hot tub? This lovely holiday cottage sleeps 11 and is ideally located close to Newgale beach and Solva Harbour. When you’re done soaking in the tub you can fire-up the BBQ before moseying into St Davids for a drink or two.
