Elterwater Hostel, Ambleside, Cumbria, Lake District

Elterwater Hostel is an independent hostel offering holiday and weekend accommodation in the Lake District, situated just 3 miles from Grasmere and 5 miles from Ambleside. Available with exclusive use during the winter months (November to February inclusive) and midweeks at other times. Minimum of 10 people with catering - do ask for details - a really great value option.

Sleeping up to 38, Elterwater Hostel is ideal for family reunions and get togethers, school, university and activity club excursions, such as cyclists, canoeists and fell runners, as well as Duke of Edinburgh and similar outdoor training trips.

Accommodation comprises bunk beds in 11 bedrooms of varying sizes - 3 x six bedded rooms, 2x four bedded rooms (one en suite) and 3 x two bedded rooms. There are substantially upgraded male and female washrooms; plus 2 additional mixed showers.

There's a large dining and lounge area which can be set up for educational activities or just relaxing.

Full catering options are available with sufficient notice but we also have a large easy to use fully equipped self catering kitchen.

The hostel is located in the small village of Elterwater with a traditional lakeland inn within a few hundred yards serving a variety of food and many local draft ales.

This is a fantastic area for walks and exploring local fells, including Langdale Pikes, Loughrigg, Lingmoor to name a few. Coniston, Scafell and Fairfield range are all within easy reach too. The Cumbria Way is within 100 yards of the door.
