The Manor House at Fingals, Dittisham, Dartmouth, Devon

Fingals Manor Farmhouse, a lovely big, friendly old 17th century stone built property, mentioned in the Doomesday Book, is situated in a remote valley close to the River Dart down a web of narrow Devon lanes and is a great destination at any time of year for friends and families wanting to holiday in the South Hams. A calm, gentleness flows from the house with the old oak panelled rooms, beautiful sash windows through which light pours in, and plenty of safe havens for the less than social to hide with a book, both inside and out.

The library is stuffed with books, there is a spacious family kitchen, a beautiful old oak panelled dining-room seating 12 and 6 gloriously comfortable bedrooms with views over the garden, each with its own bath or shower room.

Delight in the mature garden at any time of year, especially in spring when the rhododendrons and azaleas are bursting with colour. The garden wraps itself around the house, with outdoor eating areas, a gazebo and a pergola covered with wisteria. Walk or cycle from the house on the green lanes through the valley and up into the hills, return to light the barbecue and watch the stars come out.

We offer a welcome hamper filled with Devon treats and, for stocking up, guests can venture out on a lovely walk to the village shop (in the Red Lion Pub) in Dittisham, just a mile away.

This large group holiday house is a fantastic base for get togethers and celebrating special occasions with the historic towns of Totnes and Dartmouth only a short drive through the lanes. Beaches and beautiful countryside are all around, with fishing and boating available nearby.
