Georgian town house in Wisbech sleeping 12 with a games room for family get-togethers and reunion weekends in the Fens
Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. National Trust - Wainman House, Cambridgeshire, sleeps 6 - 12 in 6 bedrooms.
Sorry, no hen or stag groups at this property.
You are just a 30-minute drive from the spectacular scenery of the west Norfolk coast when you stay at Wainman House with its classical Georgian interiors, tucked away in the streets of Wisbech. Plan a birthday weekend or a family holiday and you can discover places like Hunstanton, Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea when you stay.
Set over 3 floors, the elegant interiors of this National Trust gem retain much of their original charm, with a touch of understated luxury in the form of 4 poster beds and rich fabrics. The 6 bedrooms are spread across the first and second floors, and in the basement you'll find a games room with table tennis table as well as the utility room and a store room for bikes, perfect if you're planning to explore the area on 2 wheels.
The ground floor is home to the pretty light-filled kitchen, sitting room and the dining room, which has seating for 12 people to eat together - a fact you'll appreciate if you're trying to organise a birthday afternoon tea or a celebratory feast. There's also a beautiful whitewashed conservatory that opens out onto the garden, ideal if you're a holidaying as a family group where everyone likes to have their own space from time to time.
Outside, the basement (along with the conservatory) opens out onto a private terraced garden, set on various levels with a patio and outdoor seating, and larger lawned area. It's surrounded by mature trees and shrubs ensuring a degree of privacy.
The promise of the nearby coast and the fens might be all you need to explore further afield, but the town of Wisbech, known as the Capital of the Fens, is also worth a wander. You'll find elegant Georgian streets and the stunning National Trust Peckover House next door (where you'll have free entry when you stay at Wainman House) and also Elgood's - one of the first Georgian breweries to be opened outside London, where you can do a brewery tour.
