Just across the River Tamar from Plymouth, sitting on the west bank, Saltash is often known as the ‘gateway to Cornwall’. Check out the Royal Albert Bridge, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s railway bridge across the river from the pedestrian walkway and enjoy the beautiful views up and down stream. If you’re feeling more active you can head out on a canoe or boat to explore the valley as far as Cotehele, depending on the tides. And once you’re done exploring then the waterfront has all sorts of cafes, restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy a bite to eat and watch the world drift by.
