Group Accommodation Upton-upon-Severn
Used as a port, back when the river carried goods before modern transport systems, Upton-upon-Severn is now a vibrant little town with a calendar of festivals drawing in the crowds. Upton bridge is still the only bridge that crosses the Severn for a long stretch, so lots of people stop here on a journey. Wonderfully, the medieval church in town is missing its spire, which has been replaced with an 18th-century dome, known affectionately as the ‘pepperpot’. You’ll find the streets full of 17th-century buildings which rise above the mix of cafes, independent boutiques and pubs. Nearby, don’t miss the grand houses and gardens of atmospheric, but ruined, Witley Court (English Heritage) or the stunning Croome (National Trust).
