Kentmere Residential Centre, Ambleside, Cumbria

10 - 30 7 Bedrooms 20 Dining

Bunkhouse and cottage sleeping 30 in a wild and remote location in the heart of the Lake District

Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Kentmere Residential Centre, Ambleside, Cumbria, sleeps 10 - 30 in 7 bedrooms.

The Kentmere Residential Centre consists of two buildings, The Barracks and The Cottage, sleeping a maximum of 20 and 10 people respectively. Both buildings are self-contained and may be rented individually or together. A recent refurbishment of the Centre, supported by a lottery grant, allows us to provide the unique combination of a wild and remote setting with the modern comforts that make this a great base for any self-catering group.
The last 1.5 miles of the journey is via an unsurfaced track accessible only by vehicles with a high ground-clearance (eg. minibus or 4×4 ). Although there is a call-out number for emergencies there is no care-taker on site. We ask all groups to leave the Centre as they find it, cleaning materials are available and to take all rubbish home with them.
The Centre provides an ideal location from which to explore the Kentmere valley with walks of all standards from the challenging ‘Kentmere Horseshoe’ to a gentle stroll around Kentmere Reservoir. The Valley is a haven for wildlife from the peregrine falcons nesting on Rainsborrow Crag to the herd of deer frequently seen at the head of the valley. The area offers a huge range of outdoor pursuits including mountain biking (bridleways only please!), rock climbing and bouldering (including the famous ‘Badger Rock’).
A large upstairs group room is available at ‘The Barracks’ which is ideal for indoor games, and team-building activities. There is also a large video screen which can be used for watching films or playing video games in the evening (bring your own console/laptop). Owned and operated by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, our adventure learning team can be hired at an additional cost to provide a range of outdoor activities to support your stay.
