The Kentmere Residential Centre consists of these two buildings, both of which are self-contained and may be rented individually or together. A recent refurbishment of the Centre, supported by a lottery grant, allows us to provide the unique combination of a wild and remote setting with the modern comforts that make this a great base for any self-catering group. The location of the Centre at the heart of the beautiful Lake District makes this accommodation particularly well-suited to activity groups, as well as families and friends looking to explore the area and enjoy some of the many and varied pastimes available locally.
The last 1.5 miles of the journey is via an unsurfaced track (mix of slate, mud, gravel and large loose rocks), its condition varies greatly and is prone to wash outs and as such is only accessible by vehicles with a high ground-clearance (eg. minibus or 4x4 ). Parking is extremely limited in Kentmere Village and there is no road parking north of the village. All vehicles should be parked at the Residential Centre or in an appropriate place south of Kentmere. Please do not drive past the village unless you are in a suitable vehicle to make it to the centre.
Although an emergency call-out is available, there is currently no Caretaker on-site. We ask that groups leave the Centre as they find it, ie. all areas are clean and tidy (cleaning materials are available on site) and all rubbish is taken home with you.
The Centre provides an ideal location from which to explore the Kentmere valley with walks of all standards from the famous 'Kentmere Horseshoe' to a gentle stroll around Kentmere Reservoir. The valley is a haven for wildlife with deer, wild ponies, badgers and birds of all kinds including peregrine falcons nesting in the nearby crags.
Please note: We are unable to accommodate Stag and Hen groups.
