Once the home of Royal Navy trainees, the Lodge has been renovated and is now a model in how to use energy and cut carbon emissions. The heating and hot water is provided by a biomass boiler, using locally sourced wood, whilst warmth is retained by wool fleece insulation. We are proud to hold a Gold Award for the Green Business Tourism Scheme.
The Centre is set within 55 acres of rich woodland and natural habitat for flowers, birds and animals.
Within a 3 mile walking distance of the hostel are Old Winchester Hill Nature Reserve, East Meon historical village, Clanfield Village, 4 country pubs, and many footpaths and bridle ways with beautiful views of the South Downs.
The hostel is conveniently placed for a quiet country break or field trip, 10 minutes from the A3, and approximately 1.5 hours from London and 20 minutes north of Portsmouth.
