Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. The Georgian Townhouse, York, Yorkshire, sleeps 5 - 10 in 5 bedrooms.

For any bride-to-be organising their wedding in the beautiful city of York, The Georgian Townhouse has to be a popular option for a weekend of celebrations with their nearest and dearest. The property breathes grandeur and style with exquisitely designed reception rooms and a gorgeous curved staircase, worthy of any bride’s entrance.

Arrive on Friday afternoon with the family, settle in and sit down for a pre-wedding dinner at the large table for 10. On the morning of the big day, wake up in fabulous surroundings, relax in a beautiful roll top bath sipping champagne and waiting for the hair stylist to arrive to provide the finishing touches for the bride and bridesmaids. The boutique bedrooms and living areas are full of traditional Georgian high ceilings, antique fireplaces and chic furnishings, ideal for atmospheric photos and videos of the special day, from beginning to end.

After the ceremony, return to The Georgian Townhouse for a small and intimate reception before heading to bed. The happy couple can choose from any of the 5 bedrooms for their bridal suite although Minster is the favourite. It used to be the drawing room and can be accessed by a secret staircase previously used by the servants. This beautifully light and airy bedroom has three, tall sash windows with incredibly rare wall panelling, the reason why the building is Grade II* listed. And one of the beauties of staying at The Georgian Townhouse York is that the morning after guests can step onto Walmgate and stroll to one of many eateries for a leisurely breakfast, brunch or a Sunday roast before returning home having enjoyed a truly magical weekend.

Bespoke kitchen fully equipped includes a range cooker, Belfast sink, dishwasher and a breakfast bar with stools. Utility room has a washer and dryer.

Antique oak dining table within kitchen diner seats 10 with space for 4 at the island. Small outside courtyard with tables and chairs for some guests.

Sitting Room

The lounge has plush velvet sofas, antique occasional chairs, cosy lamps, floor cushions and a TV.

TV and Music Facilities

Smart TV in lounge. Freeview.

Games Room

There is no games room but board games, cards and a small selection of books are provided.

Heating and Open Fires

Central heating throughout includes underfloor on the ground floor and to all bathrooms.

5 bedrooms: 1 king, 1 superking, 3 rooms can be set up as twins of superking length or superkings. 1 ground floor room. All have their own bathrooms.

Linen

High quality bedding and bathroom towels are included.

Bathrooms

2 bathrooms with roll top baths (1 with separate and 1 with overhead shower), 3 shower rooms. 1 shower room has level access, on the ground floor.

Children's Facilities

High chair and cot is available by prior arrangement.

Small courtyard with table and chairs. Access from the street.

Parking

There is no dedicated parking but we will reimburse the cost of 1 car using Peel Street car park which can be pre-booked & is a two minute walk away.

No smoking or vaping please.

Booking Information

25% deposit to secure booking, balance due 4 weeks prior to stay. Any damages (unless minor) will be charged. Minimum stay 3 nights, 2 nights out of high season with £200 surcharge. Friday or Monday changeover preferred but flexible. Check in from 4pm, check out by 10am unless by prior arrangement.

City centre setting within the medieval walls of York. 45 minutes from North York Moors and 1 hour 45 minutes from Yorkshire Dales. Leeds is 45 minutes. Scarborough and Coastal Path an hour.

Located on bohemian Walmgate in the historic heart of York city centre, the house is a four minute walk from the medieval shambles and principal shopping area. Key attractions are an easy walk away.
Several with many restaurants, cafes and food shops close by including a bakery next door. An M&S food, Tesco Express and One Stop are all within a short walk from the house.
