No-one in the team is going to be disappointed by a break away from work at the Afan Forest Bunkhouse. This converted chapel has been transformed into an impressive open plan bunkhouse, designed by an architect and with great attention to detail and the preservation of key historic features. From the outside this building hasn’t changed much at all but inside is a different story – where the inspirational use of space provides an excellent venue for corporate meetings, team building activities and other business events.
The space is light and airy making the most of traditional arched windows, a gallery mezzanine and high ceilings. A large communal living space on the ground floor includes a well equipped kitchen for group cooking, dining and lounge areas. The enormous table in place of the chapel aisle is designed for everyone to eat together as well as a useful spot for a full board meeting.
Where the chapel organ used to sit is now a space for activities including yoga retreats, sound baths, music experiences and conferences. Use it for team building or for some down time fun at the end of a hard day. Extra seating upstairs makes the mezzanine a useful breakaway space for smaller meetings. For relaxation there is no shortage of places to sit back including the area around the cosy Norwegian wood stove. Outside is a firepit with seating.
Accommodation mostly consists of single bunks. Bathroom facilities are plentiful with 6 en suites and 3 shower rooms.
There are lot of opportunities for creativity and fun in this beautiful part of South Wales. Hire some mountain bikes and enjoy one of a number of cycling trails close by, or take a team walk through stunning waterfall country, taking in the inspiring scenery and history of the Neath Valley.
