Arnside Hostel is an old Edwardian boarding school set in a thriving rural village (shops, boutiques, galleries, train station and pubs) on the edge of the Lake District National Park in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With great views over the Lakeland hills and Morecambe Bay, Arnside is known for its year round spectacular sunsets, walks along the prom (on the River Kent Estuary which is next to the hostel), and its Tidal Bore.
Perfect for large family reunions, activity or education groups. Exclusive use available.
There are 67 beds over 16 bedrooms (single, twin bunks, doubles and dorms sleeping 4 to 8) so plenty of space for separate rooms or last minute extras.
Besides the newly fitted self-catering kitchen, dining room and sitting room/lounge (with wood burner), numerous other rooms include a large games room with Sky TV, pool table, darts board and child’s size air hockey table. There is also a large drying room for wet coats and muddy boots and 2 further meeting/class rooms, one of which doubles up as a second TV/dayroom.
The garden is very spacious and beautiful all year round, with picnic tables, fire pits, fairy lights and outdoor wood burners, as well as numerous outdoor garden games including a full-size outdoor table tennis table.
Spend your time relaxing in and around the hostel itself or take the opportunity to get active and explore, discovering what this stunning area has to offer. There is great all weather, all season walking with a variety of routes to suit all abilities and interests. Amazing views are everywhere within the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you don’t need to walk too far to have your breath taken away by the scenery.
Or cycle to 'The Moon' - a large area of limestone pavement with fantastic views. The ascent is a winding, challenging climb up the hillside… with the thrill of knowing you get to rush back down! Or climbers can try quarry face climbing at Trowbarrow Quarry in Silverdale. For nature lovers, the hostel is perfectly located with the Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve on the doorstep, and butterfly lovers shouldn’t miss Arnside Knott.
