Ballater Hostel, Ballater, Aberdeenshire

Ballater Hostel is a 29 bed (sleeps 32) self-catering hostel situated in the centre of Ballater, near Balmoral, on the east side of the Cairngorms National Park, North East Scotland.

Guests can either book the whole hostel, a room or just a bed, with no minimum stay.

Open to both individuals and groups (large or small), Ballater Hostel is perfect for mountaineering, hill walking and cycling groups, family gatherings, a place to celebrate your last Munro, Christmas dos, university groups, a place just to get away from it all.

Perfectly situated for exploring the Cairngorms National Park with a multitude of walks right on the doorstep – from high level Munros to low level forests. You can cycle, climb, geocache, ski (I’d wait for some snow first), taste whisky, visit a castle, go fishing, horse riding, play golf – there is so much here it’s impossible to list it all.

Ballater Hostel has two traditional dormitories, both of which can be used on a sole use basis, and five private rooms (including one that is accessible). All are en-suite and every bed has a personal power point and reading light.

There is a large open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area with a wood burning stove, two very large comfy sofas and tables and benches for dining, able to seat 24 or up to 32 with the addition of an extra trestle table.

A drying room and cycle storage is also available, along with laundry facilities (washing machine and tumble dryer).

Excellent facilities and a warm and friendly welcome awaits you – the kettle is always on (literally – we have a hot water urn).
