Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends.
Glenprosen Hostel, Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland, sleeps 4-18 in 4 bedrooms.
Glenprosen Hostel was, until 1987, the primary school serving Glenprosen. Converted in 2007 to STB 4-star grading, it is very comfortable and ideal for family parties, stag or hen parties, reunions, business, school, college, youth groups, holiday breaks, and activity holidays.
There are four bedrooms with large wooden bunks, three sleeping four and one sleeping six. Five showers and three toilets.
It is especially well heated and the hot water in the showers has never run out! It is also very green (STB Silver standard), helped by our new wood burning boiler.
A raised dais in the lounge gives views out over the glen and of the red squirrels playing in the garden.
Glenprosen is one of the five Angus glens, havens of peace and wildlife, reaching up into the Grampians. They form the southern most access to Cairngorms National Park and a last haven for wildlife, gone from much of the rest of the country: red squirrel, blackgame, eagles, otters, to name only a few.
The village hall is nearby and available for rent. More accommodation is available in self-catering cottages around this 6,000-acre highland estate. There is plenty of room for additional camping in the hostel garden.
There is superb walking. £2.5m was spent recently on upgrading the footpaths in the East Cairngorms and new tracks and footbridges are on the doorstep. At the head of the glen two Munros lead onto the Grampian plateau.
Our nearby barbecue hut offers convivial evenings watching the sun set on the heather hills.
Or stay in the garden and enjoy the barbecue or an evening chat round an outside bonfire.Escape from city lights and enjoy the stars.
Weekend and mid week breaks all welcome.
£20 per person per night.
£16 per person per night if whole hostel booked.
