Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends.
National Trust - Cwmmau Farmhouse, Herefordshire, sleeps 5-10 in 5 bedrooms.
The National Trust are currently only taking bookings from Friday 1st May 2020 and will be regularly reviewing the situation.
Cwmmau Farmhouse is a great spot to get a group together, for a large family holiday, to celebrate a milestone birthday, or simply somewhere to see old friends. Set in the countryside with expansive views and a large lawned garden completed with wildflower fields all around, it's easy to imagine that you're living a simpler life when you spend time here. Gather everyone in this wonderful black and white house and make the most of time well spent in the country. Or enjoy this house as a base for visiting Hay-on-Wye, exploring the Wye Valley or getting involved in outdoor activities in the Brecon Beacons.
The pretty 17th-century timbered building owned by the National Trust has plenty of original features like elm wood floors and wood panelling to satisfy history lovers. There's a parlour with table, chairs, sideboards and an Esse wood burning stove in the vast fireplace. A separate dining room has another big table with a mix of long benches and chairs and another wood burner, all set against flagstones, so you'll find plenty of places to eat together (or not if you prefer!). The wood panelled sitting room has a mix of plush red sofas and another wood burner to fend off any evening chills after a day exploring the hills.
The farmhouse style kitchen is the most modern part of the house, with everything you need for your holiday. History buffs will love the separate old kitchen and the old dairy room too, which still retain their original stone worktops and flagstone floors as well as offering a fascinating glimpse at what life at Cwmmau must have been like.
Upstairs are 5 bedrooms (4 doubles and a twin, although one double can also be a twin on request). The master has a four poster bed, while another has a Jacobean tester bed. Thanks to the quirky historical interior, several of the bedrooms are accessed from their own landings - one double with a bathroom, and a twin bedroom off the back staircase, great if any of your party like a bit more space away from everyone else.
