Ilam Bunkhouse provides simple but quality accommodation for up to 16 people in the southern part of the Peak District, near Ashbourne. This is the perfect venue for getting friends and family together for a weekend or longer exploring the numerous walking trails and stunning scenery of the Peak District.

There is a sociable main living area comprising of a large dining table with benches able to seat the whole group, an open plan kitchen area and 2 large comfortable fitted sofas in the sitting room area. The bunkhouse offers 3 bedrooms with bunk beds, with each bunk provided with a locker, night light and plug socket, and there's also a hand basin in each room. There is a travel cot available. There are 3 individual toilet and shower rooms and a separate ground floor toilet.

Managed by the National Trust, Ilam Bunkhouse is a fantastic base for exploring the Peak District National Park, in particular the limestone hills and gorges, meandering rivers and beautiful woodland of the White Peak. There are lots of fantastic places for your group to explore nearby including Dovedale with its famous stepping stones and Ilam Park with its beautiful views, popular tea room and shop.

The area has a wealth of walking and cycling trails suitable for all abilities. There are also plenty of local picture perfect villages nearby to explore including Tissington, Milldale, and Hartington. Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock Bath and Chatsworth are within a 45 minute drive. Local National Trust properties include Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood, Calke Abbey and Kedleston Hall. The Churnet Valley Steam Railway and the world famous Alton Towers theme park are 8 miles from Ilam.

Dog Friendly

2 well behaved dogs allowed. Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture in the living area. Additional fee £15 per dog per stay.

The kitchen has a ceramic range oven, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, spacious food preparation area, storage cupboards and double sink.

The dining room has a large English ash table with benches to cater comfortably for 16 people.

The sitting room has 2 large fitted sofas and opens out onto the kitchen and dining areas.

Heating and Open Fires

Both floors of the bunkhouse benefit from underfloor heating powered by an air source heat pump.

Bedrooms

3 separate rooms with bunk beds: 2 rooms sleep 6, 1 room sleeps 4. Each bunk has a reading light, locker and plug socket. Each room has a wash basin.

Not provided, please bring with you.

Bathrooms

There are 3x individual shower and toilet rooms on the ground floor. There is a toilet on the 1st floor and a wash basin in each bedroom.

Children's Facilities

We don't have specific children's facilities however Ilam and the surrounding area are perfect for kids to explore and enjoy the outdoors.

Outdoor

There is no private garden for the Bunkhouse, but it opens into the Italian garden parkland of Ilam Park.

Parking

There is parking in the main Ilam car park which is within 50 metres of the bunkhouse. You can unload and load outside the bunkhouse.

Smoking

No smoking anywhere in the building.

Minimum stay is 3 nights and guests will benefit from a late Sunday checkout of 4pm at this bunkhouse.

At the southern end of the Peak District National Park. Once in the village of Ilam follow signs for National Trust Ilam Park. Use main car park.
