Ilam Bunkhouse provides simple but quality accommodation for up to 16 people in the southern part of the Peak District, near Ashbourne. This is the perfect venue for getting friends and family together for a weekend or longer exploring the numerous walking trails and stunning scenery of the Peak District.
There is a sociable main living area comprising of a large dining table with benches able to seat the whole group, an open plan kitchen area and 2 large comfortable fitted sofas in the sitting room area. The bunkhouse offers 3 bedrooms with bunk beds, with each bunk provided with a locker, night light and plug socket, and there's also a hand basin in each room. There is a travel cot available. There are 3 individual toilet and shower rooms and a separate ground floor toilet.
Managed by the National Trust, Ilam Bunkhouse is a fantastic base for exploring the Peak District National Park, in particular the limestone hills and gorges, meandering rivers and beautiful woodland of the White Peak. There are lots of fantastic places for your group to explore nearby including Dovedale with its famous stepping stones and Ilam Park with its beautiful views, popular tea room and shop.
The area has a wealth of walking and cycling trails suitable for all abilities. There are also plenty of local picture perfect villages nearby to explore including Tissington, Milldale, and Hartington. Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock Bath and Chatsworth are within a 45 minute drive. Local National Trust properties include Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood, Calke Abbey and Kedleston Hall. The Churnet Valley Steam Railway and the world famous Alton Towers theme park are 8 miles from Ilam.
