The Orange Tree is in a very quiet location in the heart of the North York Moors National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty with the moors constantly changing colour throughout the year. There's very little traffic, no background noise, and great potential for star gazing at night. There are plenty of invigorating walks direct from the door, or if you prefer, a relaxing lounge with log fire.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is based at Pickering (20 minutes) and runs through the National Park to Goathland (home of Heartbeat) and Grosmont. Steam enthusiasts can travel on the railway throughout the year and enjoy the special luxury dining experience in the summer evenings.
Pickering is also home to one of the largest steam events in early August, with a massive 5-day steam and country fair.
Whitby is also close by (30 minutes) and provides a very quaint and traditional seaside visit. Home to Captain Cook, the town acts as the base for the Endeavour when in the UK.
