Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Springkell House, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, sleeps 2 - 60 in 27 bedrooms.

Springkell is a stunning Georgian Mansion house dating from 1734, a beautiful wedding venue just a few miles from Gretna Green and Carlisle. 21 en suite bedrooms in the main house sleep 49 guests, with additional accommodation in three 2 bedroom cottages 100 metres away on the estate, sleeping 17. So we can sleep 66 in total.
We have 3 chefs here including 2 head chefs and a breakfast chef. If you want to bring in external caterers that’s fine. Do use our Wedding Room that can hold 150, or our Ballroom that can seat up to 110, for your Wedding Meal. We also have our Black and White Marble entrance hallway for your drinks reception after you are married. Outside you can marry to the front of the house or in our Round Rose Garden.
Brides, grooms and guests love Springkell and as I write we are 4.7 rated out of 5 on Google. There are no secrets as to how much everyone loves Springkell – just take a look at FaceBook and Instagram. The short answer is we give you an amazing wedding to remember forever and you save our beautiful house – it’s win – win – win.
Our bar has all the drinks you need including Peroni, Asahi, Black Sheep, Guinness and Black Sheep. We stay open for you too. With a free to play pool table, badminton, large Jenga, trampoline and football nets we hope that everyone can be happy. The beautiful gardens are looked after by 3 gardeners and have never looked better. Great for photographs.
Springkell will feel like your home for the time you spend with us. We will really look after you.

Disabled Facilities

We have a universal access bedroom and en suite wet room for disabled and/or elderly guests.

Pets

All pets are allowed (please apply common sense) - not in the dining areas. We love pets, and we like responsible pet owners even more!

Kitchen

We have 3 chefs who can cater for your breakfast, lunch and dinner if you want us to.

Dining Room

Our dining room is decorated by the same firm who decorated the Titanic. This can seat up to 100 and we've often had birthday parties of 30 to 60

Sitting Room

Two sitting rooms, one that seats 27, and a smaller TV room that seats 6, both with open fires.

TV and Music Facilities

Sky TV, music and disco systems, all with BlueTooth and USB connections. All bedrooms have TVs.

Games Room

Table tennis, table football, snooker, board games, Scalextric, and a Nintendo Wii, as well as badminton, football, a trampoline and croquet outside.

Heating and Open Fires

The house is large and historic, but we have four wood-burning stoves and a modern central heating system, which keeps the house comfortable and warm.

Bedrooms

Family, double & twin & universal access bedrooms: all are ensuite. 21 bedrooms in the house, 6 bedrooms in the cottages and 3 double sofa beds too

Linen

Bed linen, towels and bath mats are provided at no extra cost.

Bathrooms

All bedrooms are ensuite - with either shower or bath with 4 bedrooms having both.

Children's Facilities

We can provide anything you need for children and babies. We have high chairs, cots and games, and can provide babysitters.

Outdoor

Springkell is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, including a croquet lawn, a trampoline, woods, and a river

Swimming Pool

There is no swimming pool.

Parking

There are 50 car parking spaces at Springkell, as well as space for coaches.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside Springkell House. Guests may smoke outside.

Booking Information

Payment Terms
We normally charge a 50% deposit on booking and then an equal monthly payment to one month before you arrive.

Cancellation Terms
In the event of cancellation the 20% prepaid deposit will be lost.
In the event of a no show the total cost of the booking will be charged.

Location

Just off the M74 at Eaglesfield Junction 20. Drive through the village, down a short hill and then straight up the Springkell drive. It is very peaceful here, despite being so close to the motorway!

  • At the end of the drive, buses to Gretna Green, Lockerbie and Carlisle.
  • Carlisle is 17 miles away from Springkell, a 20 minute drive. It has fast trains to London (3hr 15mins). Lockerbie station is a 10 minute drive from Springkell, with hour-long trains to Edinburgh.
  • Lockerbie is 10 minutes away whilst the bigger town of Carlisle just 20 minutes away. Eaglesfield is a small village with local shop, village hall and a post office - it has great motorway links.
  • Eaglesfield.
  • If you didn't want to have every meal in Springkell then there are eatery's available in Lockerbie and Carlisle.
  • Carlisle Airport is 18 miles away, Newcastle Airport is 55 miles away, Glasgow Airport is 80 miles away, and Edinburgh Airport is 84 miles away.
