Holiday Rental for Groups of Families and Friends. Thurston Outdoor Education Centre, Coniston, Cumbria, sleeps 12 - 56 in 10 bedrooms.

Thurston is a large centrally heated country house with dormitory accommodation for up to 36 young people and 7 staff.
Recently refurbished with the help of the National Lottery (one million pounds) it sits in its own extensive grounds including lake, fields and woodland within the Lake District National Park on the shores of Coniston Water.
We believe that the outdoor adventure environment and the residential experience provide the most powerful framework for developing young people, particularly in the following areas: motivation, self-confidence, communication, self-esteem, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, compromise, negotiation as well as communal living.
A course at the centre is therefore not a holiday but a rich and varied learning experience with the emphasis on fun, adventure and learning.
Courses can be fully catered and staffed with experienced and qualified instructors, with any technical gear required being provided.
Thurston is registered with AALS Licence No L9391/R0572. Has the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, Gold Standard and AAIAC adventure mark.
Groups wishing to create their own programme or self-cater are also encouraged. The house offers large lounge, dining room, classroom, hot drinks room and large barn with wood-burning stove plus games room. Visiting staff are en-suite and have their own staff room.
