Teignmouth is an interesting resort complete with a traditional Victorian Pier and an expanse of lawns, flower beds, and a Georgian terrace close to the prom, where holiday attractions include a children's play area. Towards the estuary is the harbour and back beach, with a lively evening atmosphere and where visitors can catch a passenger ferry across to Shaldon. The rest of Teignmouth comprises pretty little streets with independent shops, restaurants, bars and cafes continuing with the laid back feel. Nearby Torbay is worth exploring with its gorgeous coves and many more beaches. Hikers and cyclists might head to Dartmoor for a change of scene with plenty of activities for the more adventurous. The historic University City of Exeter is 20 minutes away with a whole host of museums, boutiques, shops, restaurants and cocktail bars.
