St John's on the Hill is an independent Day and Boarding School, situated in its own extensive and attractive grounds on the border of Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire, overlooking Chepstow Castle and the picturesque Wye Valley.

Our location is convenient for access to and from the M5, railway network and Bristol or Cardiff airports.

The accommodation is divided into three houses:

Main boarding house, which can accommodate 40 people.The house has three floors, with the ground floor having a lounge and computer room with separate laundry facilities; the first floor has three rooms with bunk beds; the second floor also has three rooms with bunk beds. Both bedroom floors have separate showers, bathrooms for males and females. We only offer full board facilities.

Crossroads House is a three bedroom house with lounge, kitchen, dining room and bathroom and can accommodate up to 8 people. It can be used for self-catering.

Bowen House has three large bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, lounge, bedroom downstairs with shower and a small garden. This house can accommodate 6 to 18 and can be used for self-catering.

We have a beautiful school site with a variety of classrooms, multi-purpose science labs, art rooms, ICT suites and conference rooms. We also have excellent sports facilities including an astro turf, multi-purpose sports hall, with cricket nets, basketball, netball, tennis and badminton courts, swimming pool and a 220 seat theatre/conference hall.

The buildings themselves also benefit from outstanding grounds, with outdoor classroom facilities, an outdoor quiet garden area, climbing areas, courts, bowls green and quiet lawn areas. The site itself is also situated in close proximity to local playing areas and grass-lands.

We attract all types of groups, including:

Facilities

Small kitchen in boarding house (not for self catering). Kitchens in both other houses can be used for self catering.
Two dining rooms in main school with seating for 150 if required.
Lounge in boarding house with sofas,computer room. Two other houses have lounge and dining room sofas provided.
42 inch plasma TV, big screen projector located in Singleton Hall, 40inch 3D TV also in school library. TV provided in both other houses.
Pay phone in Boarding House; mobile phone provided for emergency contact. Wi-Fi supplied free of charge in main school and boarding house.
Two computer rooms downstairs, with access to Wi-Fi. Password and log-in details provided free of charge.
Gas Central Heating throughout boarding house, the other two houses also have gas central heating. Extra heating can be provided if required.
The school is ideal for groups. Bunkbeds are provided in each bedroom. Single beds can be added to some rooms if required.
Bottom sheet, pillow, duvet and duvet cover provided. You can bring sleeping bags if you so wish. Laundry facilities are on site for an extra charge.
Separate Bathroom and shower on each landing for boys and girls. Showers are also available in swimming pool and the sports hall.
None provided in the Boarding House.
Swimming pool, play area, computer room, 3D TV with PlayStation, playing field, tennis court. Local park directly opposite school, with playing field.
Astro turf, tennis court, playing fields and climbing frames with assault course. Directly opposite the school is a park with children's playground.
Heated swimming pool on site. Separate changing rooms and shower facilities.
Free parking & bike storage facilities.
This is a no smoking site. If you smoke you must go off the premises.
No pets allowed in Boarding House. Pets are allowed in the other two houses on site.

Location

The school is easily accessible from London,South Wales, the Midlands and the west Country,being only 3 miles from the old Severn Bridge, M48 and M5.
Historic Town of Chepstow is a ten minute walk provides many interesting sights & activities, ideal base to explore the scenery of the Wye Valley.
Small convenience shop opposite school. Tesco supermarket is a ten minute walk in to Chepstow.
Local pub is a five minute walk, with an assortment of pubs and restaurants in Chepstow.

Booking Information

£25 per person per night for full board; minimum of 25 for a booking. Self-catering houses from £300 per week, housing 6-18 people.
