Monkgate is a beautiful Georgian Townhouse, an absolutely fantastic venue for a group booking for celebrations, house parties and luxury hen and stag weekends. Set over 4 floors the house offers plenty of opportunity to holiday together whilst enjoying one's own space. Situated on a tree lined street within a short walk of the lively and historic city centre of York, 45 Monkgate is easy to get to with good access to major road networks, and a great base for accessing the coast, moors and dales.

The spacious and elegant sitting rooms (of which there are 3) are the ‘pièce de résistance’ of 45 Monkgate, all large enough for the whole group to meet together for a pre-dinner drink or cup of tea, film night or a general catch up. Original cornicing, panelled doors and decorative mantelpieces with living flame gas fires all combine to create a cosy feel of a country residence. It is hard to believe you are in the heart of the city centre, only a 3 minute stroll through Monk Bar to the Minster and all the city centre attractions.

If the central location is discouraging you regarding car parking, have no fear - No 45 offers parking for up to 5 cars in the walled garden to the rear of the house. Locked gates ensure that guests’ cars are as safe and secure as they can be in the city centre.

Pick up the phone or e-mail your details and we will do our best to assist and ‘hold your hand’ through the whole complicated process of who is or who is not coming! – we have organised many many successful house parties and are experienced in all the delights and pitfalls you may come across.

Facilities

There are 3 fully equipped kitchens with electric hob and built in oven, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machines, 2 with dishwashers.
There are three eating areas on the first, second and third floors. The third floor can be converted to a large dining area suitable for 14 people.
There are 3 elegant and spacious sitting rooms with an abundance of original features including original fire places with living flame fires.
Each sitting room comes equipped with flat screen televisions, DVD players and free WiFi.
There are 3 telephones within the property, however they are for incoming calls only but we do supply free WiFi.
There is no games room.
Each sitting room has its own real flame effect fire within its own original Georgian fireplace.
8 bedrooms: 1 king, 1 double, 1 triple (can have super king), 2 twins which can be made into super king (1 with en suite facilities), and 3 singles.
All beds are made up on arrival with 2 towels per person, bath mats and tea towels.
There are 4 bathrooms: 3 shared, all with baths with overhead showers, and 1 en suite with walk in shower.
There is limited access to Flat 1, but once through the front door (to which there are 4 steps) the ground floor is suitable for a wheelchair.
Cots and high chairs are available on request. However we do not supply linen for cots or stair gates.
Car parking utilises the outside space.
There is no swimming pool but York has leisure facilities.
There is room for parking for up to 5 cars to the rear of the property in a secure walled garden.
Smoking is not permitted inside the property.
Unfortunately the property is unsuitable for pets.

Location

Located on a prestigious tree lined route, just a short stroll to the city centre of York. Close to major road networks and easily accessible to the coast, moors and dales.
York city centre approximately a 3 minutes stroll through Monk Bar.
It is only a 2 minute stroll to Sainsbury's or 5 minutes through Monk Bar to Tesco Direct.
A multitude of restaurants, cafes and wine bars are just 3 minutes walk away.

Booking Information

We take weekly and short break bookings. Our preferred change over days are Fridays and Mondays, however we can sometimes be flexible. We do also take midweek short breaks. We require a refundable bond of £300 payable 6 weeks prior to your arrival.
