Cadarn is well situated for a number of outdoor activities and some of the best horse riding in Britain is on the doorstep. We are an established riding centre offering lessons, trail riding and hacking for both experienced riders and complete novices.
This is also a fabulous walking and mountain biking area. You can walk/cycle straight onto the open commons and mountains from the bunkhouse over a private track. You don't need to bring a bike with you as bike hire can be arranged locally and delivered to the bunkhouse.
The River Wye is easily accessible for both canoeing and the excellent fishing on offer in the area. We can put you in touch with a number of providers and guides for these activities.
Although we call ourselves a Bunkhouse the centre is divided into 3 separate blocks. The bungalow can be rented separately but when we have larger groups on site we operate on a sole occupancy basis. There are separate male and female shower and toilet blocks and the bungalow has its own toilet and shower. There is a large dining room with picnic benches and seating, with stone walls and beams giving it atmosphere.
Catering is available but needs to be booked in advance.
Cadarn Bunkhouse is situated in a quiet location, surrounded by its own land, at the base of the Black Mountains and just above the village of Felindre. It is a great place for chilling out, but if you want company there is a local pub serving good food just half a mile away.
The Brecon Beacons National Park is not only an area of outstanding beauty but also a Dark Skies Reserve - so viewing the night sky from here is pretty amazing.
Cadarn is only 5 miles from the pretty border town of Hay on Wye, famous for its literary festival and second hand book shops. There is a good selection of independent shops, cafes, pubs and a small supermarket in Hay as well as a very small cinema (47 seater).
Brecon, a small market town, is around 12 miles away and has a larger cinema, leisure centre with pool, theatre and a number of shops as well as two larger supermarkets.
Prices start at just £16 per person per night. An invoice for 20% of the cost is issued at the time of booking with the balance due 4 weeks prior to your stay.
