Hartfield House Bunkhouse, Applecross, Scottish Highlands, sleeps 2-18 in 8 bedrooms.

The Bunkhouse is a separate self-contained building within the Hartfield House complex. Located in a quiet position back from the North Coast 500 route, it sleeps up to 18 people and can be booked on an exclusive or shared use basis.

This is a fantastic rural base in the coastal Scottish Highlands, suitable for all types of groups - ranging from friends and families, business team bonding events, youth and school groups through to a wide range of other groups with special interests, including walking and cycling, climbing and kayaking.

The accommodation comprises a mix of single, twin and triple bunk rooms. There is a communal lounge, self-catering kitchen/dining room, and shower facilities. The kitchen/diner has ample space for cooking simple meals, and comes equipped with free coffee and tea making facilities.

There is a large private parking area in a safe environment, storage in the main building for bikes, and a covered area for tinkering. Outside, there is a large communal garden shared with the hostel. It boasts views over the surrounding mountains, and the Applecross Bay in the distance. The Bunkhouse also benefits from a small private garden where meals can be enjoyed al fresco if the weather is good.

The building has WiFi throughout but the internet is not fast! This is a breathtakingly beautiful, remote area, and as such there is no superfast broadband, and no mobile phone reception. There is a pay phone in the bunkhouse.

The main hostel (adjacent) has laundry facilities and these can be used by guests at the bunkhouse. All bed linen is provided and towels, should you need them, are available to hire.

Facilities

The self-catering kitchen has lots of storage, tea/coffee making facilities, and a large dining table. There is a private garden from the kitchen.

The lounge has comfortable sofas, and books to read. There is no television - enjoy the wilds of Applecross and the peace and quiet!
No television. We are in a remote location and this is the ideal time to switch off and enjoy not being connected to the digital world.
Pay phone in the hallway. WiFi but it's not fast! No mobile reception.
There is no games room.
Central heating throughout.
There is a mix of single room, twin bunk rooms, and small dorm room housing 5.
All bed linen is provided. Guests are asked to strip their beds on leaving. Towels available to hire for £1.
There are 3 toilets/shower rooms.
No disabled facilities. The building is all on the ground floor but there is a step up into the building.
Cots are available on request. Children under 2 years old are free of charge. 2-15 years old at reduced rates.
Large communal garden with spectacular views, and picnic bench for al fresco dining. The Bunkhouse has a separate private garden to the rear.
There is no pool.
Large parking area within the Hartfield House complex. Additional private parking immediately outside the complex.
No smoking throughout.
Dogs (2 maximum) in dog beds are welcome. There is a £10 charge to cover the additional clean of the rooms.

Location

Down a 1/2 mile road off the North Coast 500 route on the Applecross Estate. 5 minute drive from Applecross Inn; 10 minute walk from Walled Garden Café & Restaurant. 10 minute walk to Applecross Bay.
2 miles to the heart of Applecross. 18 miles to Lochcarron village over the world reknowned Bealach na Ba mountain pass. 87 miles (2 hours) from Inverness.
3 miles to Applecross Post Office and Store. The Walled Garden Café & Restaurant also has a delicatessen and local gift shop (10 minute walk).

Booking Information

The Bunkhouse can be booked any day of the week. Discounted rate for groups of less than 10 people. Reception open 5-9pm and check-out is 10am unless otherwise agreed. The Bunkhouse is closed from 5 January - 1 March for maintenance in preparation for the following season.
